Yoni Health

Too many times, I've witness with our young queens the lack of knowledge to execute feminine hygiene.  I can even admit that I did not grow up with the sit-down talks about which products to use and why. But this is where breaking generational cures and habits come in! As we grow into the beautiful Queens that we are; we must reach forward to empower the youth.

Why is Yoni Health so important you ask?

While there are many products created for women; not all products are best for us women! Let alone effective or good for Yoni health. Chemicals of concern that are commonly used in feminine care products include carcinogens, reproductive toxins, endocrine disruptors, and allergens. Vaginal tissue is much more absorptive than other skin, which makes the presence of hormone-disrupting chemicals in feminine care products especially concerning. Toxic ingredients found in tampons today include aluminum, alcohols, fragrance additives and hydrocarbons. Worst of all; tampon bleaching processes leave behind traces of dioxin causing endometriosis.

As if those reasons are not enough; many of the feminine products enhance risk of contracting ailments. Such ailments like endometriosis, PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome), infertility, cancer, UTI (urinary tract infection), yeast infections and the list goes on! Your integumentary system (skin) has pores and whatever you put on or in your body is absorbed into your bloodstream. This is the main reason healthcare professionals strictly urges against wearing lotions, deodorant, and body sprays. During pregnancy these products can pose a threat to your little bundle of joy. Yes, your unborn child is of the upmost importance but you are too! Consider your health even without the 'bun in the oven"!

Now that your aware of the main risks of using over the counter chemical-filled feminine products; allow me to provide you with 7 Tips (7 is the number of balance) for Yoni Healthcare!

  1. Keep an eye on your discharge—unusual colors or consistencies can signal an underlining problem. Discharge is totally normal, and it can change throughout your menstrual cycle. While some vaginal discharge is due to your vaginal lubricating and self-cleaning, much of discharge is actually cervical mucus, which can look different depending on what’s happening in your body. When an egg starts maturing to prepare for ovulation; your body typically releases more cervical mucus, which can look white, yellow, or cloudy, and feel sticky. This is normal Queen!

  2. It’s normal for your vagina to have a slight scent, skin has a smell whether you believe it or not! BUT when that smell becomes too strong or smells off, you may need medical attention. Your vagina is not a cookie or a flower, as much as you mentally believe that or treat it like one... it is not going to smell exactly like one. Queens, your vaginal smell varies based on factors like discharge, vagina’s bacterial flora, and hygiene practices. Treat your Yoni with care and the scent will be an original fragrance and not a stench! That's why I'm here Queens, to provide you with natural products that will surely boost Yoni health !

  3. Always. Wipe. Front. To. Back. (Seriously, always!) If you are disposing of toxins effectively, by urinating and having a bowel movement during the same bathroom trip; there’s one rule you absolutely need to follow... “Wipe in front and then wipe in back”. Doing this the opposite way could transfer bacteria from your rectum to your urethra causing yeast infections that can lead to more serious conditions.

  4. You do not have to wear underwear to keep your vagina healthy. Trust me Queens, your entire vulva will not fall on the ground if you do not wear underwear!  Underwear is there to protect your clothes from discharge and chaffing if you happen to be wearing rough fabric like jeans. Now, if your discharge is usually pretty light, you’re not wearing anything tight, or a harsh fabric then feel free to 'go commando' if you want! In fact, I highly recommend you 'going commando' at bedtime while you sleep. This reduces the chance of sweat being trapped around the vulva in your underwear, breeding bacteria as you sleep for 8 hours. You do not want to wake up with a yeast infection Queens!

  5. But when you do wear underwear, make it a habit to choose cotton options and change them ASAP after working out. Don't get me wrong, you could work out in silk underwear if that's your vibe BUT it’s truly best to wear cotton because it allows more air to pass through your underwear. Again, you want to make it less likely for a ton of sweat to just sit there against your vulva, increasing your risk of developing a yeast infection. That is also why I highly recommend changing your underwear directly after working out.

  6. Urinate directly after intimacy and wipe down! You do not have to hop directly out of bed, but after you snuggle for a few moments it's time to get back to Yoni health. When you have intercourse, bacteria from the rectum – which is in very close proximity to the urethra and the vagina, can get a little to close to the urethra and can cause infections, especially in Queens who are prone to UTIs already. The urine washes out the bacteria that would be present at the end of the urethra.

  7. Take time to soak when taking a bath (in flowers and oils like the Queen that you are). Consider adding "Honey Box Oil" to the warm bath to help hydrate the skin of the outer vagina and sooth any vaginal swelling or irritation that occurs after intimacy. While it’s not a hygiene must, this self-love routine may help reduce your risk of infection. But don’t go overboard on the bath oils, flowery bubble potions, vinegar and scented balms that are not organic and herb based. Too much can be irritating to your sacred Yoni.

Following these few tips daily or even weekly, will create balance and help maintain Yoni Health. You are a sacred flower and should care for your Yoni as such! And most importantly, you are a Queen and every product or person should respect your sacred temple!
